12 Bakes Your Mom Will Love
only if you want to be her favorite child
While I’m a fall girlie through and through, I do love that Mother’s Day is in the spring. There’s something about a big flower bouquet, happy bird chirps, and the endless seasonal baking potential (thanks to some of the best seasonal produce) that really suits.
Coming from someone who is truly confident in their “favorite child” status, I can basically guarantee that making your mom one of these bakes will bump you to the top of the list (if there is a list).
Also, homemade is simply the best gift to give.
START THE DAY RIGHT
If you can’t take your mom to France, bring the flavors of this Classic French Quiche Lorraine - bacon, onions, garlic, CHEESE - wrapped in a buttery crust, on a plate to her.
This is a simple Strawberry Coffee Cake that showcases one of my favorite fruits of the season (fresh or frozen) with a soft cake and buttery crumble topping.
I can say for certain that your mom will love this Homemade Granola, cause my mom goes ham for it. Mix-and-match your mom’s favorite nuts and seeds for the perfect breakfast parfait that she can enjoy from the comfort of her favorite cozy chair.
*Hot tip*: If you want to sass that parfait up, layer a little lemon curd in there and thank me later.
IF SHE’S A COOKIE QUEEN
These Classic Linzer Cookies filled with homemade raspberry jam are the buttery delight your mom is craving (whether she realizes it or not). Think raspberry pie, in cookie form.
Plus, they’re incredibly cute (just like ya mama).
These Earl Grey Brown Butter Shortbread Cookies with Chocolate Chunks feature all the flavors in one easy slice-and-bake log.
These Viennese Whirls are a classic your mom will be requesting henceforth. Think buttery, melt-in-your-mouth sandwich cookies filled with passionfruit buttercream (don’t worry, you can find passionfruit in the freezer aisle of most grocery stores!).
FEELING “FANCY”
Now this Strawberry Basil Tart is a showstopper. Not because it’s hard to make, but damn does she look GOOD. And your mom deserves a bake as pretty as she is.
For the mom who loves chocolate + peanut butter, this Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake is about to make all her dreams come true. A slice of this “cake” topped with peanut butter frosting, her favorite beverage, and silence? The dream.
Talk about a pretty bake, but low effort (cause the pan does all the work). These Rosemary Madeleines with a white chocolate shell are the perfect handheld treat, with a soft, creamy, herby bite.
JUST FOR MOM (aka single-serve)
Your mom told me the way to her heart is through homemade chocolate lady fingers. This Mint Chocolate Tiramisu is made from scratch, and only for her.
This Lavender London Fog - which can be served hot or iced - brings in those spring flavors in each cozy sip, and pairs deliciously with all of these bakes.
A single-serve Lemon Tart that looks like it came directly from the pastry case, but you made it right at home. If your mom loves a citrus moment, this one’s a lowkey stunner.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, the mother figures, the soon-to-be moms, and those in the village who support however they can. Also sending the hardest squeezing hug to the many who might find the day hard.
Love,
Hannah
