Bakes for the long weekend
cold, creamy, and berry delicious
I spent last weekend in Pittsburgh celebrating my aunt and uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary (it was a surprise for them, not for me, obvi). And even though many people don’t like surprises, my recurring takeaway is that it really means something when people show up.
Also, I may never be married for 50 years (I mean, maybe, we’re not ruling it out), but it would be really cool if people were making my recipes 50 years from now. So here’s a round-up of the latest and greatest, for all the long weekend, sunshine, group (or not) hangs.
GOLDEN GOODIES
Perfect for when you’re craving a little cheesecake or simply want to test your skills. This loaf pan classic vanilla cheesecake with a graham cracker crust is quite possibly one of my favorite small-batch recipes.
The kick-off to my May frozen yogurt series, this Moose Tracks frozen yogurt is a Publix copycat recipe (iykyk). Because yes, the grocery store brand items do be hitting some time.
A scrumdiddliumptious seasonal topping for your cheesecakes or a mix-in for your mocktails, this easy strawberry basil sauce comes together in one pot for the perfect fruity, herby bite.
If you’re looking for something fruity but with that sweet and tart balance, this classic strawberry rhubarb compote shall do the trick. Perfect simply spread on toast, layered in cakes, or topping your weekend waffles!
I will admit, I knocked it out of the park with this salted vanilla pistachio frozen yogurt. The creamy vanilla base whisks together all in one bowl before being churned and swirled with homemade pistachio paste. Salty sweet MAGIC.
One of my favorite warm-weather bakes for my people who love a key lime pie (but in cake form). This soft lime olive oil cake is topped with a cream cheese whipped cream and a crater of easy homemade lime curd.
As one of my go-to flavor choices, I couldn’t let a month of froyo pass without a cookie dough frozen yogurt recipe. Made with an egg-less vanilla base with mounds of edible cookie dough folded in (plus loads of mini chocolate chips).
Hope you have the best long weekend, whether it’s on a boat (jealous) or snuggled up with a good book.
Buh byeee,
Hannah
