Baking classics (but with a twist)
and maybe a little chaos
If I’ve learned anything from baking recipes for an audience, it’s that the people love the classics. But that doesn’t always mean we only want the classics, exactly as they are.
Luckily, we’re all open to pivots. From turning pies into cakes (or making four pies in one) to repurposing beloved childhood flavors into easy dips.
With spring in the air and Easter (if you celebrate) right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to pop out one of these bakes to feed a crowd, or just yourself.
GOLDEN GOODIES
Many of us all know and love that classic boxed yellow cake with the rich chocolate frosting from the container. These are my yellow cake-inspired cookies - think soft and chewy cookies (like the perfect sugar cookie texture) but with that yellow cake flavor - topped with a homemade chocolate buttercream.
I mean, a frosted cookie is superior.
My recent funfetti mug cake became my first 1M+ views post on TikTok (eeek!), and taught me that many of you are not microwave people.
So to give the no-microwave people what they want, this is a single-serve funfetti cake for the oven (no egg needed!). I want everyone in on all the sprinkle delights.
For our third annual bunny cake together, we’re going carrot cake. Now, I’ve shared that one of my goals this year is to better my cake decorating skills… not sure that’s happening here, but I still think she’s pretty cute.
Plus, this nut-free + dried-fruit-free carrot cake, topped with brown butter cream cheese frosting, is DIVINE.
Nothing screams Easter brunch to me quite like a quiche. This spinach and feta Mediterranean quiche is an absolute taste bud showstopper.
Bonus: It’s deep dish + the crust is flavored with oregano. Droooooool.
Now I’m off to go peep all my favorite blooms (🌷TULIPSSSS🌷) and be a nosey neighbor with all the spring home reno projects happening.
Happy baking,
Hannah
