My favorite citrus season bakes

+a few sneak peeks

I always say I think Mother Nature’s gift to us during the cold weather is citrus season. There’s just something about that fruity acidity that really brings you to life.

Not to mention the gorgeous color of citrus fruits (even if Penelope Featherington wouldn’t agree). Anyone else who can’t wait for the next Bridgerton season to drop this month?!

While we wait, I’ve put together this list of some of my favorite citrus bakes that, if you’re in the baking mood, you should absolutely have a go at.

One of my all-time favorite cakes I’ve ever made. The orange olive oil cake itself is soft with that delicious citrusy hint from the zest and the juice. Topped with cream cheese frosting and pools of salted caramel. Oh, and one layer (cause I rarely need more than that).

If you dream of lemony clouds, this lemon mousse is the perfect sweet treat. It also makes a small batch that keeps deliciously in the fridge. Oh, and it’s ONLY 3-INGREDIENTS!

I didn’t realize how many lemon poppy seed fans there are out there until recently, but I’m in goooood company. I wanted to take one of my favorite flavors and blend it with two of my favorite baked goods: Ergo, this lemon poppy seed coffee cake.

Anything wrapped in pie crust is a win for me, but take some of those gorgeous blood oranges and turn them into a galette? Yeps. Oh, and a drizzle of salted caramel never hurt nobody.

There’s something so simple, yet so utterly sensational about a loaf bake. Making a twist on my love of a lemon loaf, we have this lemon rosemary loaf. Complete with a rosemary soak and lemon glaze.

One of you gems asked me for a single-serve lemon tart recipe last year, so I was more than happy to deliver. This is a version of a classic French lemon tart, with a baked lemon filling and topped (if you so please) with a squiggle of whipped cream and a sprinkling of powdered sugar.

We’re going hard this citrus season, and I can’t wait to share this lemon + coconut cookie recipe with you!! I’m also desperate to remake some lemon-loving cruellers I used to wait all year for, when I lived in NYC. So keep your eyes on the lemon prizes coming soon!
